The Croft

A couple of acres on the lee side of a hill in not quite rural and not quite suburban Virginia. Not quite in the Piedmont and not quite in the foothills, not far from town and not far out enough to be secluded.

We came over the creek and up the quarter mile dirt drive to find a clearing surrounded by pine and a little ranch house in great disrepair. We wanted the land so we set to rebuilding the house. When spring came the house repairs were put aside and the gardens were dug, the chicken coop built and the small vineyard put in. That was seven years ago.

The Croft features here, featured in the “Urban Smallholding” articles in The Front Porch Magazine and updates often on facebook.
